Rosaneti

This is the family's largest estate. Located between the towns of Rocca di Neto and Casabona, it currently is our flagship estate.

Estate

All of the grape varieties we use can be found in the approximately 155-hectare Rosaneti vineyard. The estate is indeed fragmented into countless smaller plots, clearly defined in terms of both soil and microclimate. The scope ranges from cooler areas with looser soil, ideal for varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, to warm and exposed clay hills, perfect for Magliocco. All of our 80 hectares of olive groves can also be found here. The remaining land consists of Mediterranean scrub and oak woods. It is a must-see when visiting our company. Driving all the way to the top of the Rosaneti hills, you can enjoy a perfect view and take in Calabria's beauty: from the same point you can see both the beautiful Ionian Sea and the majestic Sila mountains with their often snow-capped peaks. In between, countless beautiful villages clinging to the hilltops.

History

The land of the Rosaneti estate was acquired in two different slots - the first in 1997 and the second in 2002. This investment represented a turning point in the company's history, as it created a solid production base to support the growth that the business had experienced in the 80s and 90s. The preparatory work and then the planting itself were based on a thorough zoning process which kept us busy for many years. These vineyards thus became the cornerstone for the steadiness of our production, ensuring that our wines remained recognisable over the years, always a value and a goal for our company.

Research

The acquisition and development of the Rosaneti vineyards represented the company's strong desire to focus above all on indigenous grape varieties. There were two fundamental reasons for this, the first being that Calabria's wine-making heritage is incredibly rich. The second is that this heritage is rather unclear from a scientific, enological standpoint. Based on these considerations, we realised the need to harvest and analyse Calabria's vine germplasm. The majority of the company's experimental fields were therefore planted in Rosaneti, including the varietal garden with its peculiar spiral shape, the first seedling fields, and those obtained through massal and clonal selection.

Museum

Many tools and items had been preserved over three generations in the family's storerooms. When the opportunity to bring them all together in a renovated farmhouse owned by the Rosaneti estate, equipped with a palmento (a traditional type of cellar where grapes were pressed), presented itself, we thought about creating a museum about wine and farming life. To enrich the range of exhibits on display, some local families generously contributed to the collection, breathing new life into their precious objects. Visiting our museum is a unique experience, for those who have rural origins as well as for those who are coming into contact with this archaic yet incredibly inventive world for the first time.
